AGNES OF SORRENTO
In 1859, Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, spent a few months in Campania, visiting Naples, Paestum and Amalfi among other places.
On a stormy night in Salerno she was inspired to write the novel Agnes of Sorrento, which is still mentioned by the international press as a book symbolizing the city in which it is set.
