GENNARIELLO
In “Gennariello,” a 1975 essay written in weekly installments, Pier Paolo Pasolini addresses a fictional, idealized Neapolitan boy, whom he proposes to educate.
“Gennariello” is unfinished. Pasolini promised to teach his boy about art but never did. A month later, he was murdered.
It’s as though it had to be that way, because the truth of art cannot be stated, or rather always arrives too late—or not at all.
